Scroll of Fire Memorial

Track story

The Scroll of Fire memorial mentions two bronze Torah scrolls depicting the history of the jewish people, the scrolls raised upwards like to flames and the descriptions of them reflect the cry of the tormented.

The Scroll of Fire memorial is about 8.5 meters high and is made of bronze and weighs about 14 tons.

The monument was build in the Martyrs' forest, a forest planted with the contribution of "Bnei Brith", planted with forest treed and natural woodlands and dedicated to the memory of six million jews who perished in the holocaust.

The forest is about 18,000 dunams in size.

Background on the settlement

Kislun - Moshav in the Mateh Yahuda Regional Council, belongs to the Union of Agricultural Movement, was established in 1950 as a transit camp for Yemenite immigrants who immigrated to Israel in Operation "Magic Carpet".

What more?

Those wishing to continue on a regular walking route - a 2.5 km long track, exit from the Scroll of Fire monument and arrive at the Bnei Brith Cave - the route is not circular, and therefore a vehicle must be left for collection at the end of the route.

Along the way, sings were posted commemorating jewish communities, most of which were almost completely destroyed in the holocaust.

The route ends at a large square near the Bnei Brith cave, which has been expanded and serves as a aplace of solidarity with holocaust victims.

Directions

One and a half kilometers before Moshav Kislun there is a left turn to the Scroll of Fire memorial.

For those coming from the central region, take road 1 (Tel Aviv-Jerusalem), at the Sha'ar Hagai junction, turn right onto road 38 (Beit Shemesh-Beit Jubrin), at Eshtaol junction turn left onto road 395 towards Ramat Raziel.

Continue on uphill according to the signs for Moshav Kislun, about 2 km later and according to the signposts turn left to the Scroll of Fire memorial.
