Metzuda Winery

Wineries

The "Metzuda" boutique winery was established in 2011 in Jerusalem by Yossi Eizikovitch, winemaker, and Yair Strenherz.

In 2014, upon completion of the new building, the winery moved to the Givat Ye'arim village in the Jerusalem hills near the vineyards and the expanses that spread in all directions. The winery has grown from its beginnings of 1500 bottles per harvest to over 20,000 bottles today.

The grapes are grown in the Galilee Mountains, as well as in the Judean Hills, which are selected areas for growing grapes, including different kinds of varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and Chardonnay. This allows the winery to receive a range of products in which they can produce different varietals and unique blends.

During the harvest period, samples of the vineyards are taken daily, to monitor the development of the grapes and the right time for the harvest.

The harvest itself takes place in the early morning hours when the grapes are still cold from the night temperatures and manually and selectively chosen.

The grapes enter into a controlled and meticulous process of fermentation, and at the end, the young wine will continue to mature in the barrel cellar.

The new visitors' center of the Metzuda Winery hosts groups of up to 50 participants by prior booking.

The visit includes a tasting of wines produced by the winery and a sumptuous home-cooked meal.

The dishes are from the Mizrahi kitchen - Mafroom, Kube, Musaka, stews, baked goods, and more.
